| Sennheiser evolution 900 series microphones win 2005 TEC Award |
 |
Sennheiser was recognized with the Technical Excellence & Creativity (TEC) Award for Microphone Technology/Sound Reinforcement for the Evolution e900 Series of backline mics at the 21st annual TEC Award ceremony. The presentation was made at the New York Marriott Marquis in New York City on October 8th during the annual AES convention. |
Introduced in 2004, Sennheiser's 900 Series of wired stage microphones feature powerful transparent sound, are highly insensitive to handling noise and have excellent transient response and feedback rejection. Tight and uniform polar patterns, tighter manufacturing tolerances and gold XLR pins are common to the entire line.
The microphones of the 900 Series are designed for professional musicians, PA rental companies and rehearsal studios and are optimized to handle an extremely wide range of electric and acoustic instruments. The e902 is optimized for miking kick drums, bass guitar amps and other low-frequency sources, from baritone sax to tuba. The e903 handles extremely high SPLs and is suited for miking snares and timbales. The e904 and 905 are also designed for drums.
The e906 is ideal for miking guitar amps, and is also suited to percussion and brass instruments. The e908 is available in variants optimized for bass, percussion and brass. The e914 is an all-purpose electret condenser for demanding applications such as drum overheads, orchestras, acoustic guitar and piano.
Two vocal microphones round out the 900 Series. The e935 is a cardioid vocal stage microphone for the working musician that is specially designed to perform under pressure while cutting through the mix with its high output. The e945 is a supercardioid lead vocal stage microphone specially designed to work under rigorous conditions while exhibiting a naturally smooth response.
This is the third TEC Award honor for Sennheiser since 2002. The company was awarded top honors in 2003 in the Wireless Technology category for the hybrid Sennheiser SKM5000-N/Neumann KK105-S, and in 2002 won in the Ancillary Equipment category for the Sennheiser HD280 Pro headphones.
