| The intelligent audio solution: tourguide 2020-D |
Audio specialist Sennheiser is launching two new products to enhance its tourguide 2020-D system for installed sound applications. The SR 2020-D stationary transmitter and the L 2021-40 charging unit are the perfect addition to the familiar HDE 2020-D stethoset receivers. Together, these components form the ideal solution for conferences involving interpreting as well as for meetings and presentations in several languages and for assistive listening in theatres and churches. The digital system transmits on up to eight license-free frequencies and is ready for operation immediately with virtually no installation effort. For mobile applications, the SKM 2020-D handheld transmitter and the SK 2020-D bodypack transmitter are available.
One system — endless applications: a single tourguide 2020 system enables companies to manage the most varied audio applications, from factory tours with mobile handheld transmitters right through to multilingual conferences. Museums can combine stationary applications with mobile ones and provide film soundtracks in several languages in a cinema room while guided tours with mobile transmitters take place at the same time. In theatres, tourguide 2020 can be used for assistive listening, benefiting from the continuously high sound quality of the digital system.
“With tourguide 2020, we are offering our customers a license-free audio system that requires little installation effort,” explained Martin Gurtner, head of the Installed Sound team at Sennheiser. “The two new components — the stationary transmitter and the charging unit — make the system ideal for speech transmission in churches and theatres as well as for conference applications.” The switchable XLR-3 socket on the SR 2020-D transmitter can be used to directly connect the microphone at the speaker’s lectern (for example an ME 34, ME 35 or ME 36) or an external audio source. That can be an interpreting system, a mixing console, a PC or a CD player. Up to eight transmitters can be combined, for example to allow conferences to be held in eight languages. For this purpose, the transmitter is switched from “Tourguide Mode” with six channels to “Conference Mode” with eight channels.
The SR 2020-D can be installed in a 19-inch rack and has a 6.3 mm (1/4”) jack plug headphones connection for monitoring. The transmitter is easy to operate and its clearly legible backlit display shows the channel and the mic/line input level. The RF transmitter has a range of up to 50 metres in buildings and 100 metres outdoors.
Clever charging
The intelligent L 2021-40 tourguide charging unit allows the receivers to be charged quickly and conveniently in around two-and-a-half hours. It has bays for up to 40 receivers and their reception channels can be easily programmed using the “Copy” button. An Ethernet connection and the software supplied with the charging unit provide even more user-friendliness and offer access to further functions. For example, channels for individual receivers or groups of receivers can be programmed and the users’ receivers can be converted from six (Tourguide Mode) to eight channels (Conference Mode).
TheL 2021-40 can be used as a desktop unit or installed in a 19-inch rack (9 U). Up to 125 charging units can be programmed together via a PC. The SR 2020-D stationary transmitter and the L 2021-40 charging unit are available immediately.
