The retro design of the new TLM 49 gives an indication of the capabilities of the mic. Without having heard the TLM 49, from the design, inspired by that of the Neumann classics of the 1950s, customers can gain an idea of the sound characteristics.
Wolfgang Fraissinet, President of Marketing/Sales, explains, “During the development phase the sound was adjusted in extensive practical tests, with the result that the TLM 49 is ideal particularly for vocal and speech recording.”
The warm character of the sound simultaneously lends the voice richness and transparency, giving it an outstanding ability to make its presence felt in the mix. As is the case with the Neumann classics, the voice comes to the fore with no unpleasant overemphasis of the high frequencies. The TLM 49 in fact employs the renowned K 47 capsule, which was also featured in the M 49 and the U 47.
In addition, the TLM 49 is also suitable for instrumental applications in professional production studios and demanding home recordings. It is supplied as a set, with an elastic suspension.
